A great excuse to rationalise staff but why would people be off now, the thing isn't meant to peak until the end of May

The company I work for has shut all our offices globally for two weeks. Luckily(?) we can all work from home.

I keep thinking this should identify the armies of middle managers or glorified administrators who do not actually produce anything of value but get overpaid for sending emails, spreadsheets they call plans and countless status updates about process / governance adherence.
End of the industrial age, hierarchical , management model in the workplace hopefully. It was never going to be changed by the current management in those structures as arguably they have the most to lose.
Longer the WFH goes on the more interesting it gets. IMO :-)

With big kids that go to work in the house, they might be WFH as well soon

I work from home all the time, have to go into London once or twice a week. I love it, never had an issue with getting the work done. Just gives me a lot of flexibility as to when I do it.

I have worked from home for many years and I can tell you here and now a sixth wank is impossible.
On the fifth Steam came out and I had to bandage it.

Not always easy this working from home lark.
Nightmare today, had to take the dog down to the beach, then have a half hour soak in the tub and so I've only managed 3 episodes of the detectorists and 20 overs of the cricket so far, with 1 email reply to a doris in the Hong Kong office thrown in.
Stressful, especially as I haven't yet looked at today's Cheltenham card yet.

It would be a bit tricky if you took 2 weeks off pretending to have the virus, then came back to work and caught the virus. How would you explain that?

How many are going to abuse that and take a two week paid break? Depends on how much sick pay you actually get from your firm. SSP is only £94 a week.

Glad I'm retired. I'd find it a bit difficult to carry out my duties as a steel erector working from home. You office Waller's think it all revolves around you.

Don't be such a drama Queen.
Just buy one of those really strong magnets from Amazon for about £6 - it will wipe your machine

Reverse your car over it after having backed up your useful stuff and wiped your knob across the screen.
Tell work it was an accident. They will log it as an 'accident!'. Just don't do it too frequently.
Laptop falling off the car roof is another data protection approach.
